Few little facts about Hendon

Hendon is historically a civil parish in the county of Middlesex. The manor is described in Domesday Book (1087), but the name Hendon meaning "at the highest hill" is earlier. Some evidence of Roman settlement has also been discovered in Hendon. In 1931, the civil parish of Edgware was abolished and its area was added to the great civil parish of Hendon.

Hendon's claim to fame is in flying and Hendon Aerodrome is now RAF museum. Hendon Aerodrome was famous as a place of pioneering experiments which included 1st airmail, the first parachute descent from a powered aircraft, 1t night flights and the 1st aerial defence of a city.
